On this page, you can find out for yourself about what is going on in Jacksonville. Please contact us if you would like to organize an event and publicize it on this website.

Oct—Nov—Dec 2017 East Central Alabama YM Quarterly Events Schedule

All Drill and Event dates are subject to change.  A regular drill will consist of Physical Training, Drill Practice and Classes.  A mandatory class means it is required so if you miss that class/test make up work is necessary.  PT gear (black shorts, red t-shirt {white t-shirts for recruits} and tennis shoes are the regular uniform unless otherwise stated).  PARENTS:  Please make a copy of this schedule and post it where your YM can see it so they can keep track of their YM responsibilities.  Parents are always welcome to attend any event/drill to observe how we operate.  If a YM is unable to attend an event/drill you must contact Commander Long at 256-310-6481 before the event/drill.

Date:  Sat. Oct. 7, 2017

Event: Recruit Boot Camp Session 1.  Welcome to all new recruits!  

Location:  Jacksonville Community Center

Time:  8:00 am to 2:00 pm  (Lunch will be served)

Uniform/Recruits: Black shorts, white t-shirt & tennis shoes

Additional Info:  Recruits will receive their Training Syllabus, Uniform fitting, and classes.

 

YM only: Oct. 7^th is also the Oxford Octoberfest.  YM have a booth they can help with for Community Service hours.  Uniform is BDUs with red t-shirts and boots.  Report to Mrs. Hodge if you are attending.  Time:  8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

 

Date:  Oct. 12^th, 2017

Event:  Community Service Event Fall Festival

Location:  Pleasant Valley Elementary School

Time: 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Uniform:  BDUs with red t-shirt and tennis shoes

Additional Info:  YMs will be handing out DDR materials.  It is not mandatory for Recruits to attend but they are welcome.

 

Date:  Sat. Oct. 14, 2017

Event:  Recruit Training Session 2 and YM Drill

Location:  Jacksonville Community Center

Time:  8:30 am to 1:00 pm (no lunch)

YM Uniform:  PT gear

Recruit Uniform:  Black shorts, white t-shirt and tennis shoes

Class:  Recruits:  Session 2 syllabus.  YMs:  Guidebooks

Additional Info:  Be ready for anything!

 

Date:  Sat. Oct. 21, 2017

Event:  Recruit Training Session 3

Location:  Jacksonville Community Center

Time:  8:00 am to 2:00 pm (Lunch will be served)

Recruit Uniform:  Black shorts, white t-shirt and tennis shoes

Class:  Training Session 3

Additional Info:  Be ready for review of previous lesson

 

FYI:  Red Ribbon Week is Oct. 23^rd through Oct. 28^th.

 

Date:  Oct. 24, 2017

Event:  Flashlight Candy Hunt & Festival

Location:  Jacksonville Community Center—soccer field

Time:  5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Uniform:  YMs—BDUs, red t-shirts & boots.  Recruits—Black shorts, white t-shirts and tennis shoes.

Additional Info:  YMs will assist with the games and candy hunt, running YM booth .

 

Date:  Sat. Oct. 28, 2017

Special Event:  Mandatory DDR Run (YMs and Recruits)

Report In Time:  7:30 am

Event:  Recruit Training Session 4 and YM Drill

Location:  Jacksonville Community Center

Time:  After DDR Run to 1:00 pm

Class:  Recruits:  Training Session 4     YMs:  Guidebooks

Uniform:  PT gear  (Recruits this means your black shorts, white tees and tennis shoes)

Additional Info: It is advised to have a water source with you for the DDR run.  Camel paks are perfect for these types of events.

 

Date:  Mon. Oct 30, 2017

Event:  Hayride and Campfire Stories

Location:  Jacksonville Community Center—soccer field

Time:  4:30 pm – 7:00 pm

Uniform:  BDUs, red t-shirt and boots.  Recruits—black shorts, white tees and tennies.

Additional Info:  Assist with hayride and act as crossing guards along the route.

 

Date:  Sat. Nov. 4, 2017  (Big Day for YMs)

Event:  Recruit Training Session 5

Recruit’s Location:  Jacksonville Community Center

Time:  8:00 am to 2:00 pm (Lunch will be served to Recruits and Training Staff) Uniform:  Black shorts, white tees and tennis shoes

Class:  Training Session 5 and Testing Day for graduation.

EVENT:  YM Christmas Float Project.  YMs will be building our Christmas Float for the Jacksonville Parade at the Commander’s house.  Recruits can come after training.

Location:  1075 Harold Boozer Rd., Jacksonville

Time:  Noon – 6 pm.  YM eat lunch before arriving!

Uniform:  Comfortable work clothing.

Additional Information:  We will be serving supper for all who help build the float.  Please let us know who is coming.

 

Date:  Sun. Nov. 5, 2017

Event:  Recruit Graduation Day!

Location:  Jacksonville Community Center

Time:  2:00 pm – 4:00 pm 

Uniform:  BDUs, white t-shirt and boots

Additional Info:  The ceremony begins at 3:00 pm. Recruits will stand inspection at 2:00 pm and receive any further instructions at that time.  A reception is held for the new YMs and their guests after the graduation.

 

Date:  Nov. 11, 2017

Event:  Veterans’ Day Ceremony & Parade

Location:  Centennial Wall on Quintard Ave., Anniston

Ceremony Time:  10:00 am

Parade Time:  Meet in Anniston Meeting Center Parking Lot on Noble St. at 1:00 pm

Uniform: BDUs, white t-shirt and boots

Additional Info:  At the ceremony YMs will be performing the Fallen Comrade Ceremony, handing out programs, water, etc.

 

Date:  Nov. 18 & 19. 2017

Event:  Glock Event at CMP in Talladega

Location: 

Time:  7:30 am – 7:00 pm

Uniform:   BDUs, red t-shirt and boots

Additional Info:  This is a Community Service Event.  You may attend one day or both days.  Duties: attending water stations, carrying paperwork, messengers, etc.    You must sign up with Commander Long to attend this event. 

                   

Date:  Nov. 23, 2017—Happy Thanksgiving

 

Date:  Thu. Nov. 30, 2017

Event:  Jacksonville Christmas Parade

Location:  Meet at Pelham Plaza parking lot

Time:  4:30 pm (parade begins at 6:00 pm) Older YMs & ALs will help with aligning parade participants.

Uniform:  BDUs, red t-shirts, boots and any appropriate gear for the weather.

Additional Info:  YM may be riding on our float, marching or walking the parade route or handing out candy.

Event:  Mandatory Drill

Location:  Jacksonville Community Center

Time:  8:30 am – 1 pm

Uniform:  PT gear

Agenda:  Mandatory PT test and DDR Class

Additional Info:  If you miss the PT test and DDR class you will have to make them up for promotion advancement!

Event:  Toys For Tots Toy Disbursement (Community Service Event)

Date:  Mon. Dec. 25, 2017—Christmas Day!  Commander and Mrs. Long wish you all a Merry and Blessed Christmas! 

 

The next quarterly Events Schedule will be sent at the appropriate time.  The First YM drill for the next quarter will be January 13^th.
